Update on downtown shootings

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate following two shootings that occurred last night.

At approximately 11:45 p.m., on Thursday, June 29, 2017, police responded to reports of a shooting. An injured man was located in the 1200 block of 17 Avenue S.W. Following further investigation, it is believed that the shooting occurred in the 1800 block of 11 Avenue S.W.

The man was taken to hospital and is currently in stable condition.

It is believed that this was a targeted attack.

At approximately 2:45 a.m., on Friday, June 30, 2017, police responded to another report of shots fired in the 3500 block of 17 Avenue S.E. Police found a vehicle that had been shot and the driver is cooperating with police.

No one was injured in the shooting and it is also believed to be a targeted attack.

The shootings are not believed to be connected at this time.
