Update #2: Homicide Unit investigation in Panorama Hills

Autopsies have now been completed on the victims of Saturday’s double homicide in Panorama Hills.

The victims have been positively identified as Chandrababu THAMBU, 56, and his son Preijanthan CHANDRABABU, 25, both of Calgary. The cause of their deaths is not being publicly released at this time. They are Calgary’s eleventh and twelfth homicides of 2017.

The 27-year-old suspect remains in hospital. The suspect is not a member of the victims’ family, however, is known to them.

At approximately 5:15 a.m., on Saturday, June 10, 2017, emergency crews were called to a home in the 0-100 block of Panamount Common N.W., for reports of four people in medical distress.

It’s believed there was an altercation inside the home between several people who were known to each other, which escalated to a violent assault.

THAMBU and CHANDRABABU were found deceased at the home. A third person was taken to hospital with critical injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment. A fourth person was transported to hospital in serious condition and has since been released. A fifth person inside the home was uninjured and was interviewed by investigators.

Police are not looking for suspects in this case and the incident was not random.
