UPDATE - Police investigate home invasion

The Calgary Police Service has identified the suspect believed to be involved in a home invasion that occurred in the northeast community of Beddington.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., on Sunday, June 26, 2016, police were called to a residence in the 0-100 block of Beddington Drive N.E., for reports of an armed home invasion. A man fled the scene prior to police arrival, but he was quickly located nearby. The suspect then took his own life. A man and woman from inside the residence were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators do not know the motive for the home invasion and the incident does appear to be random.

As the suspect has not been charged, and his manner of death has been deemed non-criminal, his identity cannot be confirmed to the public. No further information will be released.
