Vehicle Rollover Collision - Deerfoot Trail Shut Down

On Tuesday, 2012 May 1, at approximately 3:00am, a semi tractor trailer was travelling north on Deerfoot Trail, just north of 17 Avenue SE, when it lost control and rolled over.  No other vehicles were involved, but the load of steel being hauled spilled over all the northbound lanes making the roadway impassible. 

 

EMS and the Calgary Fire Department attended to extricate the driver from the vehicle.  His injuries were minor and he was not transported to hospital.

 

Consequently northbound Deerfoot Trail between 17 Avenue SE and Memorial Drive is closed until the situation can be cleared up.  Traffic is being diverted at 17 Avenue SE.  Heavy equipment is being called in to assist with the clean up.  The duration of the closure could be several hours.
