The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance in locating an offender who is alleged to be involved in tampering with Automatic Teller Machines (ATM) in the Calgary area and the subsequent theft of consumer’s payment card data. This stolen data was used in fraudulent financial transaction attempts throughout Alberta and British Columbia.
Robert Dorin DRAGOESCU, 28, is wanted on Canada-wide warrants for three charges of possessing instruments for skimming credit card data, as well as three counts of possessing instruments of credit card forgery. These charges stem from incidents which occurred at a Calgary financial institution between Friday, March 30 and Sunday, April 1, 2012.
DRAGOESCU arrived in Canada several weeks ago and appears to be travelling throughout Canada. He is also known to travel by air and is neither a Canadian citizen, nor landed immigrant.
DRAGOESCU is a Caucasian male of Romanian descent, approximately 5’10” tall with a thin build and dark-brown hair. He is known to wear a tan-coloured ski jacket with blue trim, jeans and either a light-coloured touque with long tassles or a dark ball cap. DRAGOESCU also has a distinctive, pushed-in nose.
Several pictures of DRAGOESCU are available on the City of Calgary Newsroom.
Anyone with information relating to the whereabouts of DRAGOESCU is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
