Police vehicle collision
The Calgary Police Service is investigating after a police vehicle was involved in a serious collision.
On Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, just before 5 p.m., a marked police vehicle was responding to a priority call when he was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Macleod Trail and 5 Avenue S.W.
Two registered nurses and an off-duty police officer were near the scene of the collision and rendered aid to the drivers. The police officer and the driver of the vehicle have both been transported to hospital with undisclosed injuries.
At this stage in the investigation, it appears the police officer did have his lights and sirens activated at the time of the collision. The Traffic Section has been called to investigate.
Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the collision is asked to call police or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
