Calgary, AB -- City officials are working to restore safe access to downtown buildings and transportation routes after high winds caused damage to several buildings.
As of 4:30 a.m., the downtown core has been reopened to all vehicle and transit traffic except for several streets where building assessments are still underway and safety is an issue:
Bus service is available through the downtown core however there are some detours in place to accommodate the restricted roadways.
Calgary Transit is working to restore C-Train service for the morning commute. However, once restored, the 3rd St SW station will be closed until repairs to an adjacent building can be made.
Access has been restored to previously restricted buildings.
City officials thank Calgarians for their patience as they continue to clear the affected areas.
Citizens wishing to discard debris left by the storm can drop it off free of charge at any of the three landfills by informing the scale operator that the debris is due to the wind storm. Smaller items can be disposed of through residential black cart pickup.
For more information, visit calgary.ca and use the search term “wind storm” or call 3-1-1.
