Police recover stolen property

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man after executing a search warrant on a vehicle that resulted in the recovery of a number of stolen items.

At approximately 2 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, police were alerted to a man acting suspiciously in a store and parking lot in the 8000 block of Country Hills Boulevard N.W. Police spoke with the man in the store and then returned to the parking lot where a large amount of property – believed to be stolen – was observed in the man’s vehicle. The licence plate did not match the vehicle and it was not registered. The vehicle was subsequently impounded.

On Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, a search warrant was executed on the vehicle. Drugs, break and enter tools, electronics, tools, jewelry, and ammunition were located inside the vehicle.

Robert BROUSSEAU, 36, of Calgary, is charged with one count of possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of breach of recognizance, one count of possession of break and enter tools, and one count of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

This investigation was aided in large part by attentive citizens, who reported suspicious activity.

Police have attempted to return all recovered to their rightful owners based on stolen property reports. A number of remaining items have been catalogued and a photo gallery has been set up on Flickr: https://flic.kr/s/aHskzXf6oy. Property owners can contact recoveritems@calgarypolice.ca, with an image number and contact information until July 15, 2016.
