Police investigating suspicious death

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is currently investigating after a seriously injured man found in an alley died in hospital.

At approximately 12:10 a.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019, police were called to the alleyway behind the 100 block of 15 Street N.W., for reports of an injured man suffering from a gunshot wound. The 34-year-old man was transported to Foothills Hospital in life-threatening condition and has since died.

An autopsy to confirm his identity and cause of death is tentatively scheduled for today.

Citizens are asked to avoid the area west of 14 Street N.W. between Kensington Road and 2 Avenue N.W. as the scene remains cordoned off.
