Police investigating fatal southeast collision

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating a fatal collision that occurred earlier this afternoon.

At approximately 12:20 p.m., today, Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, a pickup truck was travelling northbound on 46 Street S.E., approaching 130 Avenue S.E. The vehicle left the road due to an unknown reason and hit a red sedan, that was waiting to exit a parking lot onto 46 Street S.E. The vehicle also struck two other parked cars in the area.

The driver of the red sedan, a man in his 20s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A female passenger of the red sedan, also in her 20s, was taken to hospital in critical condition. The driver of the truck, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital in stable condition.

The reason the truck left the road is currently being investigated, however there is no indication that this collision was a result of road rage.
