Police investigating attempted luring in Taradale

The Calgary Police Service is investigating after a teenager reported that a man attempted to lure her into a vehicle in the community of Taradale.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, it is alleged a man approached a 15-year-old girl who was waiting at a bus stop in the 900 block of Taradale Drive N.E., and asked her to get into his car. The girl declined, at which point it is reported that the man exited his vehicle and grabbed her arm in an attempt to force her into the car. At that time, a bus pulled up to the stop and the bus driver questioned the man. The girl was then able to get away from the man and board the bus.

The victim continued on her way to school and attended a district office to report the incident yesterday evening.

The man is described as East Indian, in his early 20s, approximately 6’ tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a hoodie and blue jeans. The vehicle is described as a grey, four-door Ford car.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service non-emergency line at 403-266-1234. Tips can also be left anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers through any of the following methods:

Police encourage all parents to talk to their children about what to do when a stranger is making them uncomfortable, and how to tell the difference between a stranger they can ask for help – such as police officers, Transit drivers, teachers or other parents – and a stranger who might be dangerous.
