Police investigate homicide in Crescent Heights

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating the city’s latest homicide, which occurred in Crescent Heights over the weekend.

At approximately 12:40 a.m., on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016, police were called to an apartment tower located in the 300 block of 1 Avenue N.E., for reports that someone inside the building had been shot. While searching the building, officers found a man with a gunshot wound inside one of the apartments. He died on scene.

An autopsy on the victim is still underway but police have determined that the man died as a result of a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Frank Dwayne BLOMME, 55, of Calgary.

Police believe there may have been other people in the apartment at the time of the shooting and are asking any witnesses to come forward. It is believed some witnesses may not feel they can speak to investigators because of unresolved criminal charges. Investigators would like to assure these witnesses that the main priority in speaking to them will be solving this homicide.
