Police investigate home invasion in Strathcona Park

The Calgary Police Service is investigating after a home invasion this past weekend.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 9, 2016, two men forced their way into a house in the 200 block of Strathbury Bay S.W. There was a woman in her early 60s at home alone and one of the suspects struck her on the head with the butt end of a handgun. The suspects then fled the house without taking anything.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and she has since been released.

Police believe the incident was intended as a targeted attack, but the suspects mistakenly entered the wrong house.

One suspect is described as a dark-skinned man and there is no description of the second suspect.
