Person of interest identified in quadruple homicide

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has identified a person of interest in a recent quadruple homicide, and is asking for the public’s help in locating her.

The woman is believed to have played a significant role in the events that led to the deaths of two women and a man who were found dead in Sage Hill, as well as a man who was found dead in a ditch on the western edge of the city.

Yu Chieh LIAO, 24, who goes by Diana LIAO, is being sought for questioning in connection with this homicide investigation. LIAO is an Asian female, 5’5” tall and 160 pounds. She has long dark hair and brown eyes.

LIAO has ties to Calgary, Vancouver, Moose Jaw, Regina, and Toronto, and may be travelling with an unknown black male who is small in stature. She is known to use rental vehicles and stay in hotels. She was last seen in the Moose Jaw area on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Photos of LIAO and the unknown black male are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

Glynnis FOX, 36, Cody PFEIFFER, 25, and Tiffany EAR, 39, were found deceased in a burnt-out vehicle in Sage Hill on Monday, July 10, 2017. Hanock AFOWERK, 26, was found deceased near Highway 22 and Highway 8 on Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Their deaths are connected.

Investigators continue to explore the theory that FOX, EAR and PFEIFFER were caught up in a targeted attack against AFOWERK.

Police believe multiple people may be involved and continue to search for additional crime scenes.

Police are stressing the brutality and ruthlessness of the murders and are appealing to the public once again for any information that may be of help to the investigation in order to piece together what happened. Though police are unable to elaborate, all victims suffered significant traumatic injuries.
