One man injured in shooting outside northeast bar

The Calgary Police Service is currently investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning outside Juliet’s Castle Sports Lounge in the city’s northeast.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., police were called to the 400 block of 16 Avenue N.E., for reports of a shooting outside the bar. It is believed a verbal altercation occurred within the bar and continued on outside the bar where it then turned into a physical confrontation. A man in his 20s was shot during the confrontation.

The victim drove himself to hospital where he was deemed to be in stable condition. At this time he is not cooperating with police.

Investigators are working to determine suspect description(s). Early indications are that a heavy-set black male with dreadlocks is believed to be involved. However, witnesses did not remain at the scene and police are looking to speak with them to confirm what involvement, if any, this man may have had in the shooting.

Police would like to thank the staff at Juliet’s for their assistance in the investigation. They would also like to thank them for their diligence in checking for injured people outside, while protecting remaining patrons by locking the doors upon hearing the gunshots.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using either of the following methods:
