The City of Calgary to host 2014 Calgary Stampeders Grey Cup Rally tomorrow

The City of Calgary is proud to host a free rally to celebrate Grey Cup Champions, Calgary Stampeders Tuesday, Dec 2, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Municipal Plaza and Olympic Plaza.

“The Stamps’ win was absolutely thrilling, and I know that Calgarians want to come together and celebrate with the team,” said Mayor Nenshi. “We’ll also be collecting donations for the Calgary Food Bank at the rally. So come on out, show your Stampeders pride, and help your fellow Calgarians at the same time.”

Stamps fans are invited to attend, listen to players and coaches as they reflect on the season and the championship game, hear from Mayor Naheed Nenshi, and enjoy entertainment by Stampeders’ mascot Ralph the Dog and the Outriders cheerleaders.

“We invite all of our fans to come join us as we celebrate the Grey Cup championship and the successful culmination of the Year of the Horse,” said Stampeders president Gordon Norrie. “The fans played a huge role in this championship and we want you to come and party with us. Go Stamps Go!”

Wear red and white, bring a food bank donation, and enjoy some great giveaways, and a few surprises. Food trucks will be on hand. Plus, purchase your 2014 Grey Cup championship merchandise.

Macleod Trail northbound between 9 and 6 Avenues, and 8 Avenue between MacLeod Trail and 1 Street S.E. will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in order to accommodate the event. CTrain service along 7 Avenue will not be interrupted. Bus services will be detoured to avoid road closures. Please visit www.calgarytransit.com for the latest Transit information.
