Suspicious Encounter with Child

The Calgary Police Service is seeking public assistance after a suspicious encounter between a young boy and a man in the community of Edgemont.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, a nine-year-old boy was on his way home from school when he was approached by a man near the intersection of Edgemont Boulevard and Edenwold Drive N.W. The man picked up the boy by his waist and carried him across Edgevalley Drive. The child was able to break free from the man and run for help to his babysitter, who was nearby.

The babysitter and the man engaged in a short verbal altercation and the man then walked away. The CPS was not informed of this incident until the next day, when the victim’s mother reported it.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, approximately 27 years old, 5’5” to 5’6” tall, with brown hair and a beard. He was wearing a blue toque, a black jacket and had in white earphones.
