Police ask for help to identify person of interest

The Calgary Police Service is asking for help from the public to identify a person of interest in a violent attempted robbery.

At approximately 4 p.m., on Saturday, July 11, 2015, the victim was walking to his vehicle at Northland Mall when a man approached him and claimed that the victim’s car had a flat tire. The victim realized that this was not true and attempted to get inside his vehicle, but the other man got inside the passenger seat, produced a firearm and attempted to rob the victim.

When a witness tried to intervene, a second suspect in a different vehicle struck the witness while attempting to run him over. The victim was then assaulted before both suspects fled. The victim and witness were both treated for minor injuries.

Police have identified a person of interest from nearby CCTV footage. The individual may have been involved in the attempted robbery, and police need to speak with him.

The person is described as a Caucasian or Arabic male between the ages of 25 and 35, approximately 6’0” in height, with a slim build. Photos of the individual are available in The City of Calgary Newsroom.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identify of this individual is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
