Man Succumbs to Injuries from Collision

A man injured in yesterday’s collision on the Trans-Canada Highway, has succumbed to his injuries.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, a serious-injury motor vehicle collision occurred on Highway 1, approximately 800 metres east of 133 Street N.W.

A 2000 Chevrolet Astro Van was being operated in the westbound lanes, when the 63-year-old male driver lost control of the vehicle and rolled into the median.

The driver was extricated from the vehicle by the Calgary Fire Department and EMS transported him to hospital in serious, life-threatening condition.

The weather at the time was poor. Snow was falling and the road surface was icy. The environmental conditions and speed may be factors in this collision.

David FIDLER, 63, died this morning as a result of the injuries he suffered in the collision.
