INTERPOL Working with CPS to Track Murder Suspect

The Calgary Police Service continues to seek public assistance in locating a man wanted on Canada-wide murder and conspiracy charges in connection with a 2008 homicide.

Warrants for Timothy (Tim) Matthew CHAN, 34, were issued in July 2013, as part of Operation Desino, a five-year investigation into the organized-crime related murders of six people.

Four other Calgary men are currently facing charges in connection with the operation, however, CHAN has yet to be located.

CHAN is being sought in connection with the murder of Kevin Steven ANAYA, 21. At approximately 6 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, ANAYA, was walking up to a home in the 1000 block of Marcombe Drive N.E., when he was shot by the occupants of a passing vehicle. The occupants then got out of the vehicle, walked up to ANAYA and the shooting continued, before they fled the area. ANAYA died at the scene.

It’s believed ANAYA was targeted along with another man who was not injured.

CHAN is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the incident. Photos of CHAN are available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.

CHAN is Asian, 5’7” tall and 170 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair and has tattoos of a Buddha on his upper right arm and two serpents and a dragon with Asian symbols on his upper left arm.

Investigators have determined that at the time of the initial warrants in July 2013, CHAN was living in Toronto’s west side with his wife and a toddler. He also has connections to Edmonton and Vancouver, however, his whereabouts are unknown.

It is possible CHAN is no longer in Canada and operating under an assumed name. The Service continues to work with INTERPOL and other police agencies in order to track CHAN.

Anyone with information about CHAN’s whereabouts is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers anonymously using any of the following methods:
