CPS to Monitor Recently-released Inmate

The Calgary Police Service is issuing the following public information and warning in regards to the release of an inmate, in the interest of public safety.

Matthew Adrian BOYES, 43, is in the Calgary area having served a two year federal prison sentence for breaching conditions of his last 810.2 Peace Bond. He will now be monitored by the Calgary Police Service High Risk Offender Program, bound by conditions of a recognizance.

BOYES has past manslaughter and assault convictions in Edmonton and Calgary, dating back to 1990.

The public is warned that BOYES has a history of violent offences. He has been violent against strangers, people known to him, and peace officers.  In the past, he has shown that his danger level may be increased when he is intoxicated by alcohol and/or drugs.

BOYES is described as Aboriginal, 6’ tall, 210 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.

The Calgary Police Service is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is clearly in the public interest to inform the members of the community of the release of BOYES.

Members of the public are advised that the intent of the process is to enable members of the public to take suitable precautionary measures and not to embark on any form of vigilante action.
