Charges Related to Airsoft Guns

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in relation to the possession of two airsoft guns at a southwest Calgary event yesterday evening.

At approximately 7 p.m., on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, personnel at a Calgary Jewish Community Centre rally were checking audience bags, when they discovered two airsoft handguns in the possession of a man who volunteered his bag to be checked.

Police were immediately notified, and the man was taken into custody without incident.

After being interviewed by investigators, he was charged.

Adam Joseph DYKENS, 26, of Calgary, has been charged with two counts each of carrying a concealed weapon, carrying a weapon to a public meeting and possession of a weapon contrary to a prohibition order.

He remains in custody and his next court appearance is tomorrow, Friday, July 25, 2014, at 9 a.m.
