Charges laid in commercial break and enters

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in relation to a number of break and enters at apartment storage locker complexes.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, a man gained entry to a building in the 1100 block of 6 Avenue S.W. where he bypassed the building’s entry security system. Upon review of CCTV footage, investigators were able to determine a person of interest in the case. He was then matched to four other incidents where a similar method of entry was used.

Following an investigation by the District 1 Analyst Team, and the District 1 Operations Team, the man was located on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, as he approached a residence where he was prohibited from attending.

When officers approached the man, he brandished a knife and an armed standoff ensued. Officers were able to de-escalate the situation and the man was taken into custody without further incident.

Jesse Lawrence DUBRUIEL, 35, of Calgary, has been charged with the following:

  • Two counts of break and enter with intent
  • Two counts of break and enter to commit an offence
  • Three counts of assaulting a peace officer
  • Two breaches of a recognizance
  • Four criminal code warrants

He will next appear in court on Friday, Sept. 4, 2015.

The investigation continues and further charges are expected to be laid.
