Canada Day 2015 Hours of Operation for City of Calgary Facilities

The City of Calgary is adjusting its hours of operation for services and facilities on Canada Day, Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

Calgary Transit
Calgary Transit will provide a Sunday level of service on Canada Day, July 1. Please check the Canada Day schedules page to find out when your bus is running.

Temporary Service Change: On July 1, 2015 Canada Day, the upper deck of Centre Street Bridge will be closed to traffic from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. for the fireworks show. Routes 2, 3, 17, 300, & 301 will be detoured. Please see the Service Updates page for more information about the detours.

Calgary Parking Authority
No payment is required for on-street parking on July 1, 2015.

Free parking is being offered on Canada Day in all Calgary Parking Authority parkades, with the exception of the Arts Commons Parkade, where holiday rates will be in effect. Holiday rates are also in effect for all Calgary Parking Authority surface lots on July 1, with the exception of the Calgary Zoo and TELUS Spark, where regular rates will be in effect.

Golf Courses
Weather dependent – see Calgary.ca/golf for more information.

Leisure Centres (Regular admission applies)
Southland Leisure Centre will be open on Wednesday, July 1 from  11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Village Square Leisure Centre will be open on Wednesday, July 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Aquatics and Fitness Centres
All aquatic and fitness centres will be closed on July 1. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy it and beat the heat by visiting one of the many wading pools, spray parks and outdoor pools.

Arenas
​All other arenas will be closed on July 1, except for any advance bookings.

Art Centres
The North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Arts Centres will be closed on July 1.

Calgary Soccer Centre
The Calgary Soccer Centre will be closed on July 1, except for any advance bookings.

City of Calgary Parks
Inglewood Bird Sanctuary
Park hours: sunrise to sunset year-round.
The Nature Centre is closed Mondays and statutory holidays including Canada Day, July 1.

NOTE: The sanctuary’s trails are currently closed and are not expected to reopen until mid-2016.

Devonian Gardens
Devonian Gardens follow the same hours as the CORE Shopping Centre's Merchants and will be open 12 to 5 p.m. on July 1.

Animal Services Centre
The Animal Services Centre will be closed on Canada Day, July 1.
The Centre will reopen for regular hours on Thursday, July 2 (Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

Residential Waste & Recycling Collection
Residential waste & recycling collection is not affected by the Canada Day holiday.

Landfills
Spyhill, Shepard and East Calgary Landfills are currently open 7 days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours of operation are not affected by the Canada Day holiday.

Administrative Offices
City of Calgary administrative offices, as well as the offices of the Mayor and Office of the Councillors will be closed on Canada Day, July 1, and will reopen for regular business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) on Thursday, July 2.

Other Facilities
Fort Calgary
Fort Calgary is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Hours of operation are not affected by the Canada Day holiday. On July 1, the Fort Calgary site comes alive with free family activities, including live entertainment, a show-and-shine car show, children's crafts and petting zoo, and intercultural sharing opportunities with Indigenous artisans. 

Calgary Zoo
The Calgary Zoo gates are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Zoo Grounds close at 6 p.m. Hours of operation are not affected by the Canada Day holiday. 

Heritage Park
Heritage Park will be open 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Celebrate Canada Day in Calgary the old fashioned way with your friends and family at Heritage Park.

TELUS Spark
TELUS Spark is open regular hours for the Canada Day holiday.
Summer hours begin July 1, 2015: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
