The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has completed an autopsy of a woman found dead in northeast Calgary early Friday morning.

Around 7:20 a.m., on Friday, March 29, 2013, police were called to the 200 block of Templegreen Drive N.E., where a woman was discovered deceased.

It is believed the woman and her husband were travelling in a vehicle when an argument broke out. The woman attempted to leave the vehicle as it was moving and became entangled in the seatbelt, and was subsequently dragged a significant distance before the vehicle came to a stop.

The woman then ran to a nearby residence, but the man caught up to her and an altercation took place. The man then left the area and went to a nearby hospital, at which point police were notified.

Monisha SIDHU, 26, of Calgary, has been identified as the victim in this case. The cause of her death will not be released at this time, however, her death is classified as a homicide. This is Calgary’s 6th homicide of 2013.

The victim’s husband, Gagandeep SIDHU, 30, of Calgary, has been charged with first-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
