Calgary road closures and lane restrictions for May 10, 2013

New road closures and lane restrictions
10 street N.W. between Kensington Road N.W. and 2 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane in both directions from 9 a.m. on Friday, May 10 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, for emergency water main repairs.
16 Avenue N.W. between Shaganappi Trail and Bowness Road N.W. will be reduced to one lane, from 6 p.m. on Friday, May 10 until 2 p.m. on Monday, May 13, for bridge construction.
Centre Street Bridge between Samis Road and 2 Avenue S.E. will be reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 until 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, for bridge repairs.
7 Street S.W. will be closed between 5 Avenue S.W. and 6 Avenue S.W. from 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, for construction.
Westbound 17 Avenue S.W. between Sirocco Drive to 69 Street S.W. will have various lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Monday, May 13 until Friday, May 17.
Southbound and northbound Deerfoot Trail will be reduced to one lane north of SetonBoulevard at 196th Avenue SE to Stony Trail S.E. from 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 to 8 a.m. Sunday, May 12, for the bridge deck construction.
52 Street S.E. at 90 Avenue S.E., will have various lane closures, from 9 a.m. on 3 p.m. daily on Tuesday, May 14, until Thursday, May 16, for ATCO Gas utilities. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h.
Northbound 52 Street S.E. south of 90 Avenue S.E. will have the right lane closed, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between Tuesday, May 14 until Friday, May 17, for ATCO Gas utilities. The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h.
Northbound Blackfoot Trail south of Heritage Drive the right lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 13 for road construction. The speed limit will be reduced to 60 km/h during construction.
Ongoing road closures and lane restrictions
Scouts Canada Soap Box Derby
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, the route of the Scouts Canada Soap Box Derby will be closed to motorists. These closures affect the following roads:
Dashmesh Culture Centre – Annual Sikh Parade
From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, the route of the Dashmesh Cultural Centre – Annual Sikh Parade will have the following lane reductions and road closures:
Due to the expected turnout, local residents are advised to plan errands before 11 a.m. or after 3 p.m.
Forzani Group Foundation 36th Annual Mother’s Day 5 km and 10 km Road Race
From 6 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, the route for the Forzani Group Foundation 36th Annual Mother’s Day Run and Walk will be closed to motorists. The lane closures, which will accommodate runners and pedestrians along the route, are:
Delays are expected in this area and motorists are advised to use an alternative route such as, Blackfoot Trail. Due to the expected turnout, residents of the 4 Street area are advised to plan errands before 9 a.m. and after 11 a.m.
Northbound 10 Street N.W. at 2 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to one lane from 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10 until 5 a.m. on Monday, May 13, for construction.
Westbound 16 Avenue N.W. west of Sarcee Trail, one lane will be closed, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, from Tuesday, April 9 until Wednesday, May 15, for noise wall replacement.
Eastbound 2 Avenue N.W. between 10 Street N.W. and 9A Street N.W. will be closed from 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, for construction.
Edmonton Trail N.E. between 38 Avenue N.E. and 40 Avenue N.E. will have various lane restrictions in both directions from 9 a.m. on Friday, May 10 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, May, 12 for water services repair.
Southbound 36 Street N.E. at 26 Avenue N.E. will have the left lane closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Friday, May 10, Monday, May 13 and Friday, May 17, for the NE LRT Platform Extension Project.
Southbound and northbound Crowchild Trail to eastbound Bow Trail will have the speed limit reduced to 50 km/h and the exit ramp lane narrowed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 11 to allow for concrete repairs.
11 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. and 2 Street S.W. will be closed from 5 a.m. on Saturday, May 11 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, for crane setup.
The northbound right lane on Centre Street between 6 Avenue S.W. and 5 Avenue S.W. is closed until further notice. This is due to emergency utility work.
Northbound 52 Street S.E. at Peigan Trail will have the right lane closed and traffic controlled by flagman personnel from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, to allow for new roadway construction related to the Peigan Trail extension. 52 Street S.E. is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 50 km/h that will remain in effect due to construction activities close to roadway.
11 Street S.E. between 59 Avenue S.E. and 60 Avenue S.E., the shared centre turning lane will be restricted from 8 a.m. Friday, May 10 until 7 p.m. Saturday, May 11, for emergency water repairs. Northbound and southbound traffic lanes will be maintained, but shifted to the west side of 11 Street S.E. to bypass the construction.
Eastbound 9 Avenue S.E. at 1 Street S.E. will have the right lane closed and the two centre lanes closed on southbound 1 Street S.E. at 9 Avenue S.E. from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, to allow for road maintenance.
Eastbound 9 Avenue S.E. at Macleod Trail will have the right lane closed and the two left lanes closed on northbound Macleod Trail at 9 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, May 11, to allow for road maintenance.
11 Avenue S.E. between Maggie Street and 8 Street S.E. will be closed from 7 a.m. on Monday, May 13 until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 7, for construction.
100 Street S.E., between Glenmore Trail and Venture Avenue, will be closed for approximately six weeks starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2 to allow for water service upgrades and utility connections. Traffic will be directed to 84 Street S.E. to bypass the construction. Local business access will be maintained.
Long Term road closure and lane restrictions - projects
36 Street N.E. will be closed between 80 Avenue N.E. and Country Hills Boulevard, beginning Monday, April 8, between Airport Trail and Country Hills Boulevard for the roadway to be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes. The closure, which will last approximately four months, will allow Airport Trail connections to be made to 36 Street N.E. eastbound from the Airport Trail tunnel. Motorists are advised to use Métis Trail N.E. as an alternative route. For more information, visit 36 Street N.E. road reconstruction and widening.
Lane closures on Centre Street between Laycock Drive and Thorncrest Road will restrict traffic to a single lane in each direction starting at 4 a.m. Monday, April 22, for the Centre Street Reconstruction and Transit Priority project. Construction will last for approximately six to eight weeks, expect delays. For more information, please visit www.calgary.ca/centrestreet.
Westbound 13 Avenue S.W. between 1 Street S.W. to 4 Street S.W. will be closed starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, April 29, for approximately two months for the 13 Avenue Heritage Greenway Project.
68 Street S.E. between 106 Avenue S.E. and 108 Avenue S.E. will have all traffic shifted to an adjacent eastside road, to allow for utility installations and surface upgrades, starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6. The speed limit of the detour road will be reduced to 30 km/h. This stage of construction is expected to last until mid-May. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
Motorists heading north on Deerfoot Trail to travel east on Stoney Trail will be re-routed
to a different off ramp for eight weeks beginning Thursday, May 9, 2013. The existing eastbound off ramp is being removed so a new ramp can be built in its place as part of the Calgary Ring Road.
