More charges laid against Calgary massage therapist

Investigators from the Calgary Police Service Sex Crimes Unit have laid additional charges against a massage therapist previously charged with sexual assault.

Following a second media release last month, ten additional victims came forward to report alleged sexual assaults that occurred during massage treatments at the Chinook Chiropractic Clinic, located in the 6400 block of MacLeod Trail S.E., and the Movement Sports Clinic, located in the 100 block of 9 Avenue S.W. All ten victims are also adult men and the offences are alleged to have occurred between November 2017 and September 2018.

As a result, Dennis Quebral BALTAZAR, 44, of Calgary, has been charged with an additional ten counts of sexual assault. He will next appear in court on Thursday, June 13, 2019.

In total, 18 charges of sexual assault have been laid in this investigation in relation to 17 victims.

Police would like to thank the Movement Sports Clinic and the Chinook Chiropractic Clinic for their support and full cooperation throughout this investigation. Police believe that the accused had previously worked at multiple other massage clinics throughout Calgary.

The CPS encourages anyone who feels they have been a victim of sexual assault to report it to police. Victims of sexual assault can report it to police by calling 403-266-1234, or 9-1-1 if they are in immediate danger.

There is no time limit on how long a victim has to report a sexual assault in Canada.
