Merhi homicide - additional details released

It’s been one year since Hussein MERHI was shot and killed in a Monterey Park alley and police continue to search for his killers.

Investigators are able to release further descriptions of the offenders in this case.

The first suspect is reported to be a Caucasian man, approximately 25 years old, with a medium build and blond hair. He was wearing all black clothing, including a black winter coat and black sunglasses.

The second suspect is reported as also being a Caucasian man with blond hair, with a thin build.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, police responded to reports of a shooting in an alley in the 100 block of Del Ray Road N.E. When they arrived they found MERHI, 26, in medical distress. He died at the scene.

Investigators believe MERHI met up with at least two people in the alley, and at some point during the meeting an altercation occurred and the victim was killed.

A dark SUV was seen fleeing the area after the shooting. Detectives believe the vehicle is possibly a 2000 to 2006 Ford Escape or similar type SUV.
