Man wanted for manslaughter

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has issued warrants for a man believed responsible for the death of a man in downtown Calgary on Thanksgiving weekend.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015, police were called to the 700 block of 12 Avenue S.W. for reports of a disturbance in an alley. Upon arrival a man was found deceased.

Investigators believe the victim met an individual and that an altercation took place. The victim was robbed of his bag and the offender fled on foot. There is nothing to indicate this was a random attack and it is believed drugs may have played a role.

An autopsy completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has formally identified the victim as Christopher Stephen TOOLEY, 33, of Calgary. Cause of death will not be released at this time.

Rory Martin STEVENS, 42, is wanted on Canada-wide warrants for manslaughter and robbery. Police believe he may be in Ontario. STEVENS is described as Caucasian, approximately 6’1” tall, 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

A photo of STEVENS is available on The City of Calgary Newsroom.
