Man charged in July 2019 homicide

The Calgary Police Service has charged a man in a homicide that occurred last July.

At approximately 2 p.m., on Thursday, July 18, 2019, police officers driving in the 3500 block of 32 Avenue N.E., were flagged down by a citizen seeking help for a man in medical distress. The man was located in the south end of the Whitehorn Safeway parking lot, near the gas station. Officers pulled over and provided first aid. The man, whose injuries are believed to have been caused by a serious assault, was taken to hospital where his condition deteriorated.

Darrin Thomas AMOND, 40, of Calgary, succumbed to his injuries on Monday, July 29, 2019.

Jeremy WHINCUP, 26, was charged with second degree murder in relation to AMOND’s death. He will next appear in court on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020.
