Increased high-visibility police presence in the core

Starting this week, Calgary Police Service District 1 has implemented a program to offer a mobile, high-visibility policing presence in the core.

For the month of December, this presence will be located in the 200 block of Stephen Avenue Mall, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A number of CPS vehicles will be utilized for this initiative, including the Mobile Command Vehicle and potentially the Checkstop bus, depending on available resources.

The location of the high-visibility presence will change based on areas of need and the ability to impact crime trends.

As well as enhancing security and safety, the high-visibility presence will give the community a chance to interact with members. Officers will be available to assist the public and provide guidance as needed.

Members of the public wishing to report a crime can go to the District 1 Ramsay Station or Chinook Centre Mall Community Station.
