Homicide Unit investigating fatal shooting

Calgary Police Service detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early this morning in northeast Calgary.

At approximately 1 a.m., today, Monday, March 30, 2020, we were called to the 5700 block of 18 Avenue N.E., after receiving multiple reports of citizens hearing gunshots. After searching the area, officers located a male in medical distress. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.

Police circulated the area, however have not located a suspect at this time. While searching the area, officers cleared a nearby residence and are currently speaking with several potential witnesses.

Investigators are also in the process of preserving evidence from the scene due to changing weather conditions.

An autopsy will be scheduled with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
