Get Moving this winter with City recreation programs

Today, The City of Calgary’s Winter Program Guide is available on stands to help keep Calgarians moving all winter long.

Calgarians can pick up their guide at a City recreation facility or visit calgary.ca/recreation to browse everything from drama classes to Zumba Gold - the newest offering for older adults. Registration starts Monday, Nov. 23.

This issue includes The City’s holiday programming for preschoolers such as Make n’ Take Sugar Cookie Ornaments and Santa’s Art Workshop, and teens can get moving with such programs as Adventure Fitness or Kickboxing for Youth. For those who want to get their heart pumping with a low impact activity, try Fitness Walking at Max Bell Arena, or if they want to prevent fall-related injuries, Bone Builders may be the class to try.

The City offers a broad range of programs for all ages to get more Calgarians, more active, more creative, more often.  By offering a wide-array of activities The City hopes everyone can find something they enjoy, which helps keep them motivated to get moving.

The release of the program guide is timed with The City’s first ever #GetMovingYYC campaign and event week. Working with our partners and the community, The City is starting a movement to get Calgarians moving more and sitting less. It’s the first step towards a healthier, happier and more productive Calgary.
