Fire Department honours its fallen with annual Memorial Ceremony
On Tuesday, September 12, the Calgary Fire Department will remember 45 Calgary firefighters in a memorial ceremony that acknowledges the sacrifice of Calgary firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty or who succumbed to illness related to their service to the community.
This year, the CFD will be adding two members to the list of fallen firefighters.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi, members of City Council and citizens will join the Calgary Fire Department and families of the fallen.
When: Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017

Calgary Municipal Building
800 Macleod Trail S.E.
Media and public are welcome to attend the service, which will include the ringing of the bell in honour of each fallen firefighter, the laying wreaths and a moment of silence.

All Calgary fire stations and facilities will lower flags to half-mast on Sept. 12, from sunrise until sunset, in honour of Calgary’s fallen firefighters.
The annual memorial is held on the second Tuesday of every September.
