Fire Crews Respond To Two Alarm Fire On Chaparral Crescent SE

At approximately 1:30 am this morning, Calgary Fire Department (CFD) crews responded to the 100 block of Chaparral Crescent SE for reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, CFD found a single family residence with a significant amount of flames and smoke showing from the rear of the home. Fire was also extending to neighbors’ homes when CFD arrived. All people inside evacuated safely before CFD’s arrival with the assistance of the Calgary Police Service.

Shortly after arriving, a second alarm was struck by CFD to ensure adequate resources on scene.

Crews quickly worked to extinguish the main body of flames as well as protect exposures on either side of the home where the fire originated. Crews initially attacked the flames with hand lines as well as an elevated water tower. A thorough search of all affected residences confirmed that no people were inside.

Three residents from the source home have been displaced and are being assessed by Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) to determine needs.

The fire is under control at this time and crews are remaining on scene to ensure full extinguishment and no extension.

No injuries were reported.

The fire investigator is on scene conducting an investigation. Cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
