Fatal stabbing - Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016

One person has been charged after a fatal stabbing yesterday.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, police were called to a disturbance in the 0-100 block of Fonda DR S.E. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who had been seriously assaulted.

The victim was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A man that was at the scene was taken into custody.

Investigators have no reason to believe this is a random incident. It is believed both the suspect and the victim were known to each other and had spent the day together prior to the assault occurring.

Morris STERN, 55, of Calgary, has been charged with one count of manslaughter.

The identity of the victim will be released pending next of kin notification and autopsy which is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016.
