Fatal motor vehicle collision

The Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a fatal collision last night.

On Thursday, June 23, 2016, at approximately 8 p.m., a fatal motor vehicle collision occurred on Deerfoot Trail between Stoney Trail and Country Hills Boulevard.

A green Ford Mustang was traveling south on Deerfoot Trail from Stoney Trail, while a red Chevrolet Malibu was traveling north on Deerfoot Trail from Country Hills Boulevard.

The Ford Mustang crossed from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes and struck the Chevrolet Malibu head-on.

A 67-year-old woman and lone occupant of the Ford Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 49-year-old woman and lone occupant of the Chevrolet Malibu was transferred to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating the possibility of an onset of a medical emergency as a contributing factor in this collision.
