Fatal Collision on Stoney Trail

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section continues to investigate a fatal collision Tuesday afternoon on Stoney Trail.

At approximately 4:20 p.m., on Dec. 19, 2017, a 2003 Ford Escape headed east on Stoney Trail was approaching 88 Street S.E., when it began to fishtail and left the roadway. The vehicle, which had four occupants, went towards the ditch and struck a support post near the driver’s door.

The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old man, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. The three other occupants received minor injuries.

The weather at the time played a role in the collision, however, it is believed the vehicle was traveling too fast for the road conditions.

Drugs and alcohol are not considered factors.
