Fatal Collision 6000 blk Peigan Trail SE

On Friday, December 18, 2015 at approximately 5:08 PM, a fatal collision occurred in the 6000 block of Peigan Trail S.E.

A 1998 Nissan Altima, operated by a 25 year old male, was westbound on Peigan Trail S.E. A 2000 Mitsubishi cube van, operated by a 35 year old male, was eastbound on Peigan Trail S.E. The Nissan lost control on the snow and ice covered roadway and veered across the centre yellow line. The front of the Mitsubishi truck struck the passenger side of the Nissan in a “T-Bone” configuration. The two vehicles remained engaged as the Mitsubishi pushed the Nissan approximately 20 metres eastbound.

The driver of the Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Mitsubishi was not injured.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating the incident. Neither speed nor alcohol appears to have been factors in the collision.
