Fatal collision – Railway Street S.E.

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section is investigating a fatal collision.

Just after 1 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, a 2006 Toyota Rav 4 was exiting the Heritage Towne Centre shopping area onto Railway Street S.E. The vehicle was occupied by three females.

At the same time, a 2000 Honda Accord driven by a 31-year-old male was traveling south on Railway Street towards the shopping centre access road. The Rav 4 entered into the path of the Honda.

As a result of the collision, the 74-year-old rear seat passenger of the Rav 4 was taken to hospital for precautionary reasons. On Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, she died as a result of her injuries.

It is believed weather and winter driving conditions played a factor in the collision.

Alcohol, drugs and speed are not factors in this collision.
