EARLY MORNING HOUSE FIRE ON 2 AVE NW

At approximately 03:45 this morning, the Calgary Fire Department responded to reports of a fire in the 400 block of 2 Ave. N. W. First arriving crews reported a fully involved, two storey single family home. A second alarm was immediately called to assist with firefighting operations, and evacuation of buildings on both sides of the involved home. Residents have been returned to the apartments on both sides of the building at this time.

Residents of the home had self-evacuated upon CFD arrival.

Crews initiated an interior attack on the fire, and began a search of the home. There is significant fire and smoke damage to the  home. Residents will not be able inhabit the home. Crews will be remaining throughout the day, working on overhaul and salvage.

Investigators are on scene, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Atco and Enmax assisted crews with utility shut downs of the involved home. CPS is assisting with traffic control in the community.
