Crescent Heights suspicious death deemed a homicide

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has completed the autopsy on the man found dead in Crescent Heights early yesterday.

At approximately 4:20 a.m., on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017,police were called to the area of 12 Avenue N.E., and Centre Street N., for a report of a man who appeared to be in medical distress in his stopped vehicle. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle with bullet holes in it and a deceased man inside.

The victim has been identified as Hussam Ahmad ISMAIL, 31, of Calgary. His death has been declared a homicide.

This is Calgary’s third homicide of 2017.

The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone in the area who witnessed anything unusual to report it – no matter how small the tip may seem.
