City Services: Labour Day 2015

The City of Calgary is adjusting its hours of operation for Labour Day, Monday, September 7, 2015.

Get around

Transit
CTrain disruption: beginning Saturday, Sept. 5 through Monday, Sept. 7 shuttle buses will replace CTrain service between Chinook and Anderson stations.
Fall Service Changes begin Sept. 7. Stay up-to-date with changes to your route with Transit Email Alerts or plan your trip at calgarytransit.com.

Parking
On Monday, Sept. 7, on-street parking is free and holiday rates are in effect at Calgary Parking Authority surface lots and parkades.

Construction
The Labour Day weekend is the busiest of the year for road construction in Calgary. For an updated list of traffic incidents, road construction and closures click here.

Hit the greens
All City of Calgary operated golf courses are open on Monday, September 7 (weather dependent) visit Calgary.ca/golf for more information.

Take a dip
Village Square Leisure Centre is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 7 – regular admission applies. If the weather is nice, enjoy the sunshine and beat the heat by visiting one of our many wading pools, spray parks and outdoor pools.

Looking for some fun, family friendly activities to enjoy over the long weekend? Community Cleanups
Save yourself a trip to the landfill. Although City of Calgary operated landfills are open 7:30 a.m.  - 5 p.m. on Labour Day, several Community Clean-ups are slated throughout the month of September. Check out the complete schedule here.

The following facilities will be closed on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, except for advanced bookings:

Southland Leisure Centre remains closed for annual maintenance through September 13.
All athletic parks , arenas and the Calgary Soccer Centre
North Mount Pleasant and Wildflower Art Centres
The Nature Centre at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary

All City of Calgary administrative offices

Back to school

School and playground zones
Last month, The City announced that all school zones would be replaced by playground zones by the end of 2015, which means they are in effect from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. year round. Visit our website for more information.

Calgary AfterSchool
Calgary AfterSchool is open to all youth between the ages of 6 - 16 and offers free or low cost activities between 3 -6 p.m. on school days.
