City announces snow route parking ban in effect

A snow route parking ban is now in effect. As of 6 p.m. on Monday, February 6, 2017 the ban is in place to help crews clear Priority 2 routes as efficiently and safely as possible. The snow route parking ban is expected to be in effect for 72 hours, unless extended or lifted by The City.

“Snow route parking bans support our snow plowing operations by removing parked vehicles from the streets, and allowing crews to plow more efficiently,” says Roads Maintenance Manager Bill Biensch. “While we understand that this ban is a short-term inconvenience to some people, it is important in helping us clear these roads quickly to keep improve safety for all Calgarians.”

Calgarians who park on a snow route are asked to move their vehicles during the ban. Vehicles that remain parked on these roads are subject to enforcement, up to and including a parking ticket and tow. Snow routes are marked by a blue sign with a white snowflake.

Complimentary parking is available to Calgarians between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. in Calgary Parking Authority surface lots and parkades. Payment is required outside of this time frame. A list of lot locations is available at www.calgaryparking.com/findparking. Complimentary parking excludes the following lots: Arts Commons Parkade, Heritage Park, Calgary Zoo and TELUS Spark.

Visit the snow route location map for further information.
