Charges pending in early morning weapons incident

Charges are pending against a man who is alleged to have been involved in a weapons call early this morning.

At approximately 2 a.m., on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, an officer conducted a traffic stop in an alley in the 200 block of Templebow Place N.E. As the officer was dealing with the occupants of the vehicle, a man exited a nearby home and brandished a handgun.

The officer immediately called for additional resources and challenged the offender. The offender retreated back into the home, with several others who were already inside.

After several hours of negotiation, the offender and six others in the home exited and were taken into custody around 8:10 a.m. Charges are pending.

Officers are currently obtaining a warrant to search the home in question. This may take several hours.
