Charges laid in May Long Weekend double homicide

The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit has charged one man in relation to a double homicide that occurred in May 2017. The public’s assistance is also being asked in locating a man who may have more information about the incident, as well as a vehicle that is linked to the subject.

At approximately 7:55 p.m., on Sunday, May 21, 2017, police were called to a parking lot in the area of 130 Avenue and 48 Street S.E., for reports of gunshots. Two men were found deceased upon arrival.

Investigators interviewed approximately a dozen witnesses after the shooting and believe that the two victims arrived at the parking lot together. A third man, who arrived at the location in a separate vehicle, is alleged to be responsible for the shooting.

The victims were identified as Anees Ismail AMR, 26, of Calgary, and Colin Brendan REITBERGER, 23, of Calgary.

On Thursday, June 8, 2017, Christian Joffre OUELLETTE, 20, of Calgary, was arrested. He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Monday, June 12, 2017.

The vehicle believed to be used in the shooting was recovered shortly after the incident. Investigators are searching for a second vehicle that dropped off the suspect at a gas station, located at 70 Freeport Blvd N.E., after the murders. The vehicle is described as a red Dodge Durango SLT, likely a 2004 to 2006 model, with a sunroof. 

The Homicide Unit is also asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man who may have more information about this incident. William KINCADE-MILLER is believed to be in Ontario and is making his way to New Brunswick. KINCADE-MILLER is described as Caucasian, 6’2” tall, with a slim build, blue eyes and short brown hair.
