Charges laid in double fatal collision - August 2017

The Calgary Police Service Traffic Section has laid charges in relation to a double fatal collision in August 2017.

At approximately 12:20 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, a pickup truck was travelling northbound on 46 Street S.E., approaching 130 Avenue S.E. The vehicle travelled off the road and hit a red sedan, that was waiting to exit a parking lot onto 46 Street S.E. The vehicle also struck two other parked cars in the area.

The driver of the red sedan, a 21-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 24-year-old passenger, the driver’s sister, was transported to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a day later.

James Robert FARKAS, 43, of Calgary is charged with two counts of criminal negligence causing death.
