Charges laid in dangerous driving of cube van

The Calgary Police Service has laid charges in connection with the dangerous driving of a cube van yesterday.

At approximately 4:30 a.m., on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, a dangerous driver was reported to police after a U-Haul cube van collided with another vehicle near the intersection of 52 Street and Peigan Trail S.E. The cube van fled the scene and police received multiple calls reporting it driving at high rates of speed, running red lights and driving into oncoming traffic.

Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not pull over. The vehicle was eventually stopped around 6:30 a.m., and one man was taken into custody without incident.

In total, five police vehicles were damaged while trying to stop the cube van. At least five other vehicles were also hit by the van, however, that number is expected to increase as the investigation connects other damaged vehicles to this incident.

No one was injured.

Daryl Lee NOBLE, 39, of Calgary, is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, flight from a police officer, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with a suspended licence, theft of a motor vehicle and three counts of breaching a court order.

The investigation continues and anyone with information on this incident who has not already spoken to police is asked to contact investigators through the non-emergency number at 403-266-1234, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers using any of the following methods:
