Calgary road closures and lane restrictions press release

Unplanned work

NEW: Reduced lanes on northbound Sarcee Trail S.W. north of Glenmore Trail S.W. due to emergency water main repair work. Expect delays.

Northeast

NEW: Reduced lanes on westbound Memorial Drive N.E. west of Deerfoot Trail from 11 p.m. on Friday, March 24 to 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 25. During this closure, speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/hr. This closure accommodates work on the adjacent LRT station.

NEW: Various single lane closures at 64 Avenue and 11 Street N.E. from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday March 25 for manhole inspections.

NEW: Edmonton Trail N.E. is reduced to a single lane in each direction at 4 Avenue N.E. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 25. This closure remains in place until 5 a.m. on Sunday, March 26 and accommodates road work.

Northwest

NEW: 16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction at Crowchild Trail NW beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 25. During this closure, the ramp from southbound Crowchild Trail N.W. to eastbound 16 Avenue N.W. will be closed. This closure remains in place until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 and accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: Kensington Road N.W. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 24. During this closure, 19 Street N.W. will be closed at Kensington Road N.W. This closure remains in place until 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 25 and accommodates water services utility work. Motorists will be detoured via signs.

NEW: Kensington Road N.W. will be closed at 19 Street N.W. beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 25. During this closure, 19 Street N.W. will be closed at Kensington Road N.W. Motorists will be detoured via signs. This closure continues until 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 and accommodates water main replacement work.

NEW: The right lane of southbound Centre Street N is closed between Beddington Boulevard and 78 Avenue N.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28. This closure accommodates pruning work.

NEW: Reduced lanes on westbound Berkshire Boulevard N.W. at Sandstone Drive N.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28 for construction.

Stoney Trail/ Sarcee Trail Interchange Improvements

  • Daily lane reductions on Sarcee Trail N.W. and 16 Avenue N.W. through the project limits from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until further notice.
  • The right lane of westbound 16 Avenue N.W. is closed at Sarcee Trail N.W. daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Thursday, March 2. This closure repeats daily on weekdays until late April 2017.

Southeast

NEW: Front Street S.E. is closed between 41 Street S.E. and 45 Street S.E. beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 24. Traffic will be detoured via signs, expect delays in the area. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 and accommodates construction.

NEW: 3 Street S.E. will be closed between 6 Avenue and 9 Avenue S.E. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 25. During this closure, access to the City Hall parkade will remain open. This closure accommodates crane truck. Alternate routes will be provided via signage.

NEW: 44 Street S.E. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 8 Avenue and 11 Avenue S.E. beginning at 6 a.m. on Saturday, March 25. This closure continues until 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 and accommodates water services utility work.

NEW: Reduced lanes at 52 Street and 17 Avenue S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, March 27. Motorists are advised to expect delays in the area, and use alternate routes when possible. This closure repeats daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Friday, March 31 and accommodates utility work.

Reduced lanes at the intersection of Barlow Trail S.E. and Glenmore Trail S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Thursday, March 23. This repeats daily during weekdays until 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28 and accommodates utility work.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

  • The Shepard Road access south of Glenmore is closed. There will be a new access created at 24 Street S.E. south of Glenmore Trail, west of the existing Shepard Road alignment. Traffic requiring to access Shepard Road south of Glenmore Trial will be detoured via the new 24 Street S.E. exit and then along 86 Avenue S.E. to reconnect with Shepard Road.

Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue construction project

  • There will be various single lane closures on northbound Macleod Trail S.E. at 162 Avenue S.E. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and southbound Macleod Trail S.E. from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily (Mon-Fri) through Friday, March 31.
  • There will be various multiple lane closures on northbound and southbound Macleod Trail S.E. at 162 Avenue S.E. from 9 pm to 5 am nightly (Mon-Thu) through the evening of Thursday, March 30.
  • ‎Southbound Macleod Trail will be closed between Midlake Boulevard S.E and 162 Avenue S.E. from 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 until 5 a.m. on Friday, March 24. Traffic will be detoured southbound on Shawville Boulevard to bypass the closure. This closure will be repeated the evening of Monday, March 27.
  • ‎Eastbound and westbound 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard at Macleod Trail S will be closed from 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 to 5 a.m. Friday, March 31. Traffic will be detoured to Midlake Boulevard to bypass the closure.

Southwest

NEW: Centre Street S will be closed between 13 Avenue and 14 Avenue S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, March 25. During this closure, local access will be maintained. This closure continues until 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 26 and accommodates hydrovac and roadwork.

NEW: Reduced lanes on 9 Avenue S.W. at 8 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 for water services utility work.

NEW: The left lane and adjacent cycle track will be closed on 12 Avenue S.W. from 2 Street to 4 Street S.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, March 27. During this closure, cycle track traffic will be detoured into the closed traffic lane. This closure repeats daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 and accommodates utility work.

NEW: 14A Street S.W. is closed between 17 Avenue S.W. and 19 Avenue S.W. from 9 p.m. on Monday, March 27 to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28. During this closure, there will also be reduced lanes on 17 Avenue S.W. at 14A Street S.W. This closure accommodates utility work.

11 Street S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction at 6 Avenue S.W. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, March 24. During this closure, the left lane of 6 Avenue S.W. will also be closed at 11 Street S.W. This closure accommodates utility work.

The two right lanes of 6 Avenue S.W. are closed between 8 Street S.W. and 9 Street S.W. from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on weekdays beginning on Thursday, March 9. This closure continues daily on weekdays during these hours, and also on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. This closure accommodates utility work and continues until further notice.

17 Avenue S. reconstruction project

  • 17 Avenue S.W. is reduced to a single lane in each direction between 7 Street and 8 Street S.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, March 1. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 31.
