Ivor Strong Bridge Rehab

Alberta Transportation is performing rehabilitation on the Ivor Strong bridge on Deerfoot Trail. During this project there will be narrowed lanes and a reduced speed limit. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained throughout construction, which occurs 24/7 beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 13. Motorists are reminded to use caution when driving through the construction zone and expect delays.

Northeast

NEW: The left lane of westbound Memorial Drive is closed at Barlow Trail N.E. and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. daily from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, June 8. This closure continues during these hours until 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10 and accommodates LRT work.

NEW: The left lane of westbound Memorial Drive is closed at Barlow Trail N.E. and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8 and Thursday, June 9. This accommodates LRT work.

Westbound 12 Avenue N.E. is closed at 36 Street N.E. and a two-way setup is in place in the eastbound lanes beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7. During this closure, there will also be various single lane closures at 12 Avenue N.E. and 36 Street N.E. and the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/hr. This closure accommodates road construction and remains in place until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 10.

Aviation Road N.E. is closed between Aviation Boulevard and 15 Street N.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. During this closure, local business access will be maintained. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 25 and is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project.

Single right lane closure of eastbound Meredith Road N.E. between 4 Street and Edmonton Trail N.E. beginning at 12 p.m. on Sunday, June 5. This closure continues until 5 p.m. on Friday, June 17 and accommodates construction.

There will be new traffic patterns on McKnight Boulevard N.E. between 12 Street N.E. and 19 Street N.E. beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday, June 5. Westbound McKnight will be closed in this stretch and narrowed two-way traffic will be in place in the eastbound lanes. This work is part of the McKnight Boulevard N.E. Widening Project and will be in place through September 2016.

The left lane of eastbound Memorial Drive S.E. is closed at 18 Street S.E. (Barlow LRT Station) and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 6. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 9. This closure accommodates LRT maintenance.

Various lane closures on 36 Street N.E. from Memorial Drive to 16 Avenue N.E. nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning on Monday, June 6. These closures continue nightly during these hours until 5 a.m. on Friday, June 10 and accommodate paving.

The right lane of eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. is closed at 1 Street N.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Wednesday, June 1. This closure repeats during these hours on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through June and accommodates construction.

36 Street N.E. will be closed between 64 Avenue N.E. and Airport Trail N.E. beginning at 6 a.m. on Monday, May 16. During this closure, traffic travelling northbound on 36 Street N.E. will be restricted to local only access at 64 Avenue N.E. During this closure, traffic travelling westbound on 80 Avenue N.E. will be diverted to southbound 40 Street N.E. There will be no access to Airport Trail from 80 Avenue N.E. during this closure. Detours using Metis Trail N.E. around construction zone are recommended. This closure continues until mid-October 2016 and accommodates road widening by a developer.

There will be various lane closures on 36 Street N.E. between Memorial Drive and 16 Avenue N.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until further notice. These closures accommodate curb rehab in preparation for paving.

The right lane of eastbound 16 Avenue N.E. at 1 Street N.E. is closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. weekly on Tuesday through Friday until further notice. This closure accommodates construction.

Northwest

NEW: The right lane of northbound Crowchild Trail N.W. is closed between Bow Trail S.W. and Kensington Road N.W. from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7 to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8. During this closure the ramp from Crowchild Trail to westbound Memorial Drive will also be closed. This closure accommodates bridge inspection.

The right lane of westbound 24 Avenue N.W. is closed between 23 Street N.W. and Crowchild Trail N.W. beginning at 7 a.m. on Friday, June 3. This closure continues through August 2016 and accommodates the construction of a retaining wall. During this closure, pedestrians will be diverted to the south crosswalk through the affected area.

114 Avenue N.W. is closed between Centre Street North and 14 Street N.W. for roadway upgrades through November 2016.

16 Avenue N.W. will be reduced to a single lane in each direction between Bowfort Road N.W. and Sarcee Trail N.W. beginning at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7. During this closure, there will be periodic 5 minute complete road closures controlled by police. This closure continues until 1 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8 and accommodates utility work. Speed will be reduced to 50 km/hr. during the closure.

Various single curb lane closures on 14 Street N.W. from 8 Avenue N.W. to 21 Avenue N.W. beginning on Monday, June 6. The closures will occur in various single northbound lanes between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. and various single southbound lanes between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. These closures accommodate concrete work and continue daily during these hours until Friday, June 24.

The right lane of southbound 10 Street N.W. between 2 Avenue N.W. and 3 Avenue N.W. is closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 9. This closure accommodates the Kensington improvements project and continues until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14.

Various single lane closures on off peak hours at 16 Avenue N.W. and Sarcee Trail N.W. for interchange improvement work. These closures are expected to last until November 2016.

83 Street N.W. is closed between 33 Avenue N.W. and Bowfort Road N.W. until further notice. There will be no access to Bowness Road N.W. from 16 Avenue N.W. during this closure; use an alternate route.

Southeast

NEW: The left lane of eastbound Glenmore Trail S.E. is closed between Ogden Road and Barlow Trail S.E. and speed is reduced to 50 km/hr. from 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 to 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 9. This closure accommodates water services utility work.

4 Street S.E. is closed between 8 Avenue and 9 Avenue S.E. daily from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 6. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14.

The right lane of westbound 9 Avenue S.E. and adjacent cycle track is closed at 4 Street S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. During this closure, cyclists should dismount and use the sidewalk around the closure. This closure remains in place daily during these hours until Tuesday, June 14 and accommodates construction.

Various single right lane closures on both directions of 52 Street S.E. at Glenmore Trail S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Monday, June 6. These closures continue through the weekdays during these hours, and also occur on Saturday, June 11 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. These closures accommodate Transportation Infrastructure work.

6 Avenue S.E. is reduced to a single westbound only lane beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24. During this closure, the north sidewalk along this stretch of 6 Avenue S.E. will be closed. This closure continues until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 and accommodates sidewalk repairs.

The right lane of southbound Ogden Road S.E. is closed at 42 Avenue S.E. and the speed limit is reduced to 50 km/hr. from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning on Tuesday, May 17. This closure accommodates construction and continues until further notice.

There will be various single lane closures on Glenmore Trail north of 52 Street S.E. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Friday, April 15. This construction continues daily during these hours on weekdays, and from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. These closures accommodate construction and continue until further notice.

15 Street S.E. is closed between 42 Street and 46 Street S.E. During this closure, business access will be maintained. This closure continues through 2016 and accommodates major water services work.

Zoo Road will be closed until December 2017 to accommodate the construction of the Zoo Flood mitigation project. The 12 Street S.E. bridge will remain open to local only traffic.

Blackfoot Trail / 58 Avenue S.E. Intersection Improvements Project

  • From now until late summer of 2016, there will be periodic lane closures and 50 km/h speed reductions at the intersection of Blackfoot Trail at 58 Avenue S.E. to allow for intersection improvements. Further information will follow as construction progresses. Macleod Trail / 162 Avenue Interchange project

  • NEW: The left lane will be closed on northbound Macleod Trail south of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily on Wednesday, June 8 and Thursday, June 9.
  • NEW: The right lane will be closed on southbound Macleod Trail south of 162 Avenue S.E. / Sun Valley Boulevard from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily on Wednesday, June 8 and Thursday, June 9.
  • NEW: There will be various single lane closures in all directions from 9 a.m. Thursday, June 9 to 2 a.m. Friday, June 10.
  • NEW: Starting the evening of Thursday, June 9, the access to southbound Macleod Trail from eastbound 162 Avenue S.E. will change. The existing ramp from eastbound 162 Avenue S.E. to southbound Macleod will close and traffic will be required to make a 90* right turn at the intersection, from a newly developed right turn bay. In addition, there will be some minor alignment changes to the eastbound lanes approaching Macleod Trail to accommodate the new right turn.
  • NEW: Starting the evening of Thursday, June 9, the access to eastbound Sun Valley Boulevard from northbound Macleod Trail will change. The existing ramp from northbound Macleod Trail to eastbound Sun Valley Boulevard will close and traffic will be required to make a 90* right turn at the intersection from a newly developed right turn bay (with the exception of large trucks which will be directed to use Midlake Boulevard as a detour). In addition, there will be some minor alignment changes to the northbound lanes approaching Sun Valley Boulevard to accommodate the new right turn.
  • Starting on Thursday, April 7, the access to westbound 162 Avenue S.E. from northbound Macleod Trail will change. The previous northbound Macleod Trail to westbound 162 Avenue S.E. exit will re-open, but operate as a single left turn only. The access to eastbound Sun Valley Boulevard from northbound Macleod Trail will remain as is on the existing detour ramp.
  • The dual turns from eastbound and westbound 162 Avenue S.E. to northbound and southbound Shawville Boulevard will be revised to single left turns starting Sunday April 3. An alternate access to the south end of Shawville Boulevard can be used via the southbound Macleod Trail exit ramp to 22X.

Glenmore Trail / Ogden Interchange

  • Eastbound Glenmore Trail east of 30 Street S.E. will have trucks crossing roadway in off-peak hours starting Wednesday, April 27 and continuing until the end of May, for hauling material related to the Glenmore Trail / Ogden Road interchange project. Flagman crews will be on site to stop all eastbound traffic as required while the trucks cross roadway. Efforts will be made to keep disruption of traffic on eastbound Glenmore Trail to a minimum. Glenmore Trail is already part of a construction zone with a reduced speed limit of 50 km/h, that will remain in effect 24/7 for duration of construction.

Southwest

NEW: 2 Street S.W. is closed between 11 Avenue S.W. and 12 Avenue S.W. beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7. This closure remains in place until 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 and accommodates construction.

NEW: The ramp from southbound Crowchild Trail to 12 Avenue S.W. is closed from 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 to 5 a.m. on Thursday, June 9. Motorists are advised to use the Bow Trail exit as an alternate. This closure accommodates bridge inspection.

The right lane of westbound 10 Avenue S.W. is closed between 13 Street and 14 Street S.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, June 7. This closure continues daily during these hours until Saturday, June 11 when the closure will occur from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. This closure accommodates utility work.

The left lane of 4 Avenue S.W. is closed east of 3 Street S.W. beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 6. This closure continues until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 10 and accommodates utility work.

Westbound 17 Avenue S.W. is closed between Centre Street and 1 Street S.W. beginning at 5 a.m. on Monday, June 6. This closure continues until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8 and accommodates construction.

The right lane of 9 Avenue S.W. will be closed at 7 Street S.W. daily on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, May 31. This closure continues daily during these hours until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 and accommodates utility work.

The right lane of southbound 8 Street S.W. between 8 Avenue and 10 Avenue S.W. is closed beginning at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24. During the closure, the west sidewalk on 8 Street S.W. in this stretch will be closed. This closure will continue through October 2016 and accommodates work on the 8 Street S.W. underpass project.

The right lane of northbound 4 Street S.W. is closed at 15 Avenue S.W. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, May 10. This closure continues daily during these hours until further notice and accommodates utility work.

Crowchild/Flanders Ave Interchange

  • The northbound exit ramps from Crowchild Trail S.W. to Flanders Avenue S.W. are currently closed until late 2016. Motorists will be unable to access Flanders Avenue S.W. via northbound Crowchild Trail S.W. Motorists are advised to use 33 Avenue S.W. or 50 Avenue S.W. via Crowchild Trail as alternate routes.
  • Caen Avenue (from the Currie Business Park entrance to Quesnay Wood Drive) is closed to allow for the utility work necessary for the Interchange construction. This stretch of Caen Avenue will be closed until late 2016. A temporary off-ramp provides access into the Currie Business Park, from Crowchild Trail South to Battleford Avenue.
  • Construction work has begun on Richard Road and eastbound Flanders Avenue. Traffic on Richard Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction (north and sound bound).

Mayor’s Environment Expo – Tuesday, June 7 – Thursday, June 9

  • The right lane will be closed on Macleod Trail between 9 Avenue S.E. and 7 Avenue S.E. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily from Tuesday, June 7 to Thursday, June 9.

AMA School Safety Patrol Picnic – Thursday, June 9 – 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Motorists are advised to watch for a large number of buses entering Heritage Park at 14 Street S.W. and expect delays in the area

Inglewood Night Market – Friday, June 10, 1 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

  • 10 Street S.E. will be closed between 9 Avenue S.E. and 10 Avenue S.E. from 1 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, June 10.

Spruce Meadows National Tournament – Friday, June 10 – Sunday, June 12 – 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

  • Speed reduction to 70 km/hr. then to 50 km/hr. in effect on Spruce Meadows Trail from 6 Street S.W. / Sherriff King Street S.W. to 53 Street S.W.

Luke’s Drug Mart Community Party – Sunday, June 12, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • 1 Avenue N.E. between Edmonton Trail N.E. and 4 Street N.E. is closed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 12.
